A Paper Eliza Love Story

Sally and Will Lore, living in Atlanta, Georgia and Birmingham, Alabama and married on November 8, 2025

Paper Eliza caveat before we begin…

Sally Jones Lore was my first college friend and my first Paper Eliza client EVER! She commissioned me to make a stationery set for her (9 YEARS AGO!) for her summer working at an overnight camp. I feel so honored that she let me help her with her wedding paper and owe it to her for believing in me and my business!

Both photos (and all wedding photos) by Holly Schumpert, HES Photo & Design

How did you and your husband meet?

Sally Lore: I was living in Macon, Georgia for medical school and had joined a Bible study led by the most wise, wonderful person I know, Emily Hutchins, in the world's sweetest neighborhood. Emily is neighbors with Tracy (my now MIL!) and during COVID, Will had lived in Macon with his mom after college waiting for the job market to open up before moving to Atlanta for work. Emily had gotten to know Will when he was living in Macon, and then got to know me during Bible study. One night out of the blue she proclaimed that I HAD to meet "Tracy's cute son Will!" Funny enough, I already knew Tracy from going to Orange Theory workouts. After a year of hearing how great Will was, Emily set up a group to have drinks and hang out on their porch one night when Will was visiting from Atlanta. We ended up talking until almost 1 am and he came back to Macon 2 weeks later to take me on our first official date. We have been together ever since!

Was it love at first site?

SL: Will would say he doesn't believe in love at first site ha! But we both knew there were definitely sparks flying when we met.

where was your first date?

SL: At Oliver's Corner Bistro in Macon - the best!

where was your first kiss?

SL: At my apartment when Will dropped me off after our first date!

how did you know he was the one?

SL: Will is the most genuine, kind, and easy-going person I know and every time I was with him, I felt so much peace and like I could be nothing but myself. We met during a chaotic time in my career as I was getting ready to apply for the Match for residency-- and Will (on his own!) researched everything about the Match (down to knowing my statistical chance for matching at certain programs LOL) and that truly sealed the deal. He jumped right in and cheered me on whole heartedly!

who said they loved each other first?

SL: Will said "I love you" first as I was impersonating a bird on the wall at one of our favorite little Atlanta bars. If you know me, you know that somehow makes sense. I promptly said it right back!

what is your proposal story?

SL: Will and I have birthdays close together (he loves to tell you I am a cougar, 6 days older!) and we had planned for both of our families to come to Birmingham, Alabama to visit for the weekend and celebrate. I had the Friday off and Will's mom was already in town, so I took her for a walk on Jemison to show her around.

When we came back to get ready for lunch, I opened the door and noticed my entry way table was gone, so I immediately thought I had been robbed. Tracy started walking through the condo asking if anyone was there and meanwhile I see my table moved and set up with flowers and champagne with Will standing on my balcony. I didn't comprehend what was happening (since Will was supposed to be at work in Atlanta still!) and when I saw a ring box in his hand I immediately dropped to the floor and started crying. Mind you, Will is still standing alone on the balcony at this point with me still inside crying on the ground. Tracy (Will's mom) left and Will came inside to get me LOL and took me out on the balcony and got down on one knee. I was so surprised and sweaty and teary that I didn't even remember if I said yes!

Will proposed with the same ring his dad had proposed to his mom with, but had it reset for me. We miss Will's dad every day and every time I see the ring I think about his parents' special love story that is a part of our own story now. It was so special just the two of us and he wrote me the sweetest letter that I will treasure forever. We then met our parents for lunch and celebrated with close friends at the condo later that night - BEST DAY EVER!

where was your wedding?

SL: We got married November 8th in Rome, Georgia! Our ceremony was at Frost Chapel on Berry College campus (where my parents got married!) and our reception was at Oak Hill. We lucked out with the most beautiful fall weather ever!

describe your paper eliza vision in 3 words.

SL: Classic, simple, elegant

Were there any elements, icons, illustrations, or themes that you felt represented you and your spouse that you wanted to include?.

SL: Eliza is the BEST and drew a sketch of Frost Chapel that we incorporated on the back of our save the dates and on our wedding website. It is so special to us since it is a nod to my parents own love story and we wanted to remember the most important part of our wedding - the covenant we were making with God in front of our closest friends and family.

Eliza also made a sketch of the state of Alabama next to state of Georgia (long distance relationship shout out!) and had "All is fair in love and Lore" written over them (I love a play on words), which was such a fun, personal touch to our wedding. Eliza understood my vision perfectly for timeless wedding paper with a fun flare and she made the whole experience easy and seamless. Paper Eliza forever!!!
